Our Beliefs

Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. Jesus was born of a virgin, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind, and thus atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to Heaven's glory, and will return in power and glory.

God’s Word is the only completely reliable and truthful authority, and we accept the Bible as our guide for living a Godly life. Our first question when faced with a decision is, “What does the Bible say?” We practice daily Bible reading and study. The Bible is the basis for all we believe. The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God. It alone is the final authority in determining all doctrinal truths. In its original writing, it is inspired, infallible, and inerrant.

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We express our belief in the Gospel through our obedience to the Gospel. We obey the Gospel and apply it to our lives by repenting of our sins (death to sin), being baptized in water in the only Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection). This threefold experience is the consistent pattern of conversion in the church. Jesus makes all things new. As we are transformed into His image, we begin to transform the world into His Kingdom.

God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but we defied God by sinfully going our own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to be reconciled to Him. Salvation comes only through God’s grace, not human effort; it must be received personally through faith, repentance, water baptism, and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. At the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and the judgment. Only believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.

“Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’ ‘How can someone be born when they are old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!’ Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and Spirit.’” John 3: 3-5

“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’ ” Acts 2:38

“When anyone becomes a Christian, he becomes a new person inside. The old dies, a new life has begun.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

We believe that our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is expressed by calling on His Name  in the waters of baptism. Water baptism is an act of obedience identifying with Jesus in death to sin, burial of the old nature, and resurrection to new life. We are baptized for the remission of our sins.

We believe the only way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us. Every believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit by simply asking and believing. We seek to practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right.
